Following out postponement of the event in May the Century Challenge Rides are alive and well with a new date on 23rd October 2022. In 2022 we have refreshed all activities with a new starting event location and three brand new challenge routes.
The Century Challenge Cycle Rides are now a collection of routes to suit on road and off road cyclists bringing you the best of what the Central Coast hinterland has to offer. The Event Village for the October 2022 event is now based very conveniently at the Wyong Christian Community School on Alison Rd just to the east of the M1 near Wyong so all routes can be operated on quiet roads heading into the Olney and Ourimbah State Forest areas.
All cycle routes have been selected as ideal all-rounder rides with undulating roads and well-equipped feed stations throughout that provide you with the proper hydration and goodies to keep spirits high as you chip away at the kilometre count.
The new 100 kilometre signature ride is now aptly named the TWIN VALLEYS 100 taking you along the floors of the Yarramalong and Dooralong Valleys. Its a fast relatively flat course for the majority of the ride with some hills in the second half. Ideal for the cyclist who has been building endurance during the season and wants to tick a Century ride off the bucket list
The Yarramalong 50 gives you the option of a shorter flat course for the beginner starting to push the distance milestone out or intermediate rider that is more comfortable with cycling for a couple of hours.
We are very excited to present the newest member of the family suited to mountain and gravel bikes- the OURIMBAH FOREST CHALLENGE. This gravel road route takes you along an access road through Forestry Commission land with an excursion on ridgelines in Ourimbah State Forest. We hope you have your climbing shoes on, it’s a testing first half ride with a total of 800m of cumulative climbing until you arrive at the turnaround point near the old quarry location that provides great vistas of the hinterland. You will be pleasantly relieved to enjoy wind in your face for the downhill run home.
You could ride in groups or by yourself, but had to be ready to rumble. There is stunning country side to enjoy as you clock up those early morning kilometres. But keep something in the tank to make it back to Event Village to enjoy great food, drinks and a story or two.
